I love hearing people’s ideas. It’s one of the coolest things about my job. In meeting with clients who are starting their first business or someone who has an idea for a “side project” I get to hear really cool and in most cases innovative ideas. It’s a thrill to me. I used to be in “academically gifted” when I was in elementary school and one of the things I enjoyed the most was when we were given a problem and then had to sit around and “brain storm” the idea. It was always interesting to see the thought processes and ideas that would come up when we were given no constraints and no wrong answers. Just a stream of ideas with the goal of solving a problem. Invariably we would end up merging several ideas, compromising certain points and coming up with what we felt was the ultimate solution to the problem. So naturally I love hearing people’s ideas and helping them shape them into ( in most cases ) reality.

Now keep in mind it doesn’t always happen. Some ideas never make it off the drawing board and inevitably some ideas do become reality but die off in a blaze of glory. That’s the other side of the equation and not one that should be overlooked. If you have an idea, realize that it might fail… and that’s okay. You heard me right, not every idea is gonna set the world on fire but you’ll never know until you try. Sure you can get advice from others but ultimately the only way to see if it works is to put it out there. You see I know someone who worked in construction and was told ” You can’t make a living building websites! ” by his former boss. Years later that person is in fact making a living ” building websites ” and having a blast doing it. My point is that ideas make this world go around and sometimes no one can see the sense of it but you. Some failures are inevitable and should be expected and if you fail don’t let it get you down. Behind every great success is a long line of failures. Just don’t ever think of failure as a destination. It’s part of the journey but not the final part, unless you give up and stop trying.

My point is now more than ever we need dreamers, deep thinkers, artists, brainiacs, philosophers, creators. People unafraid to put their ideas out there. People unafraid to be the innovators of this generation. Draw wonder from everyday life my friends. Find your interest and stoke the spark to a roaring flame…
